North Sea Winches delivered a 40 tonne WLL winch to Sparrows Fluid Power in Aberdeen. The winch is part of a riser decommissioning project for Talisman Energy.

The winch was designed to DNV 2.22 rules for offshore lifting equipment and has undergone full dynamic testing at North Sea Winches facility in Scarborough.

North Sea Winches and Sparrows are developing close ties to deliver hydraulic systems and winches for the offshore, marine and deck equipment markets.

Some of the performance figures for the winch include:

• Winch Rating: 30 tonnes on upper layer at 7.2 metres/minute (provided by customer) Capacity for 250 metres of 40mm wire rope in 5 layers.
• The design uses DNV standard 2.22 for Lifting Appliances
• The selected 40mm rope has a minimum breaking load of 1402 kN for a Dyform 6×36 rope of 1960 N/mm2 grade
