North Sea Winches have recently delivered an electric winch package to the Swedish Polar Research Vessel, Oden.

The winch has been installed in a 20 foot ISO container along with variable speed drive, local and wireless remote control and running line meter displaying load and distance on a wireless remote display.

The package was installed, commissioned and also spooled with 6500m of 20mm wire rope over a three day period with various load and operation tests to prove functionality.

The winch is to be used for seabed core sampling and will be making the voyage through Arctic waters this summer.
