North Sea Winches have recently helped with possibly the strangest request for a while.

Lee and Dawn Threadgold of Animated Objects Theatre Group contacted us regarding their production of Orpheus the Mariner.

The programme was over two evenings as part of the Coastival Festival in Scarborough. Giant puppets along with over 900 actors and assistants performed along Scarborough Seafront.

The finale involved a huge 30 meter tall Hades God of the Underworld puppet suspended from a frame work lifted by a mobile crane.

North Sea Winches were asked to design, fabricate and load test the lifting frame and also supply all the rigging for the project.

The whole show was a massive success even with the weather not playing fair an estimated 15,000 people attended each night.

The giant Hades puppet now also holds the world record for tallest working puppet.
